Theatrical Makeup/Special Effects Artistry Summary

The continuing production of major films and photo shoots throughout New York City and Connecticut has created an ongoing demand for talented makeup artists and special effects artists. To meet this demand, Brio offers an intensive 40-hour certificate program that can put you in a prime position to get hired.

This course prepares you to work in the theatrical aspect of the industry. You will learn the anatomy and bone structure of the face; aging of the face and use of latex and creams; creating bruising, surface cuts and scrapes from latex and Spirit Gum; Fantasy Makeup and upon successful completion of this course, students can find opportunities to work on movie sets, television, and live theatrical productions.

The course duration is 40 hours over 8 weeks and all tools are provided.

*Prerequisite for this course is that students must have at least one year of field experience and/or have successfully completed the Advanced Makeup course at Brio Academy.
